Tax seminar: “informative, comprehensive and practical”

Posted on Updated on

Our brilliant Consultant and Entrepreneur Renold Tang delivered another well-received seminar for the Small Business Clinic, titled: “Basic Business Taxes and Personal Taxes in the UK” (28th October 2015). Sharing his intensive knowledge as a Fellow Chartered Accountant and extensive experience of a businessman with students and staff at the University of Southampton, Renold discussed a range of critical tax issues for business owners: from ‘tax rates and schemes’ to ‘where to get advice on tax matters’.

With an overall rating of 94%, Seminar 3 was awarded high marks from the audience for “Quality of Presenter”, “Relevant to audience’s need”, “Quality of Venue” and “Would like to attend further seminars”. Responding to the last seminars’ feedback relating to ‘sufficient amount of time’, with many participants calling for a longer seminar, We are taking steps to meet this demand – for example, Renold have stayed on for an extra hour in Seminar 3; plus we will consider extending the length of future seminars.

All in all, we are delighted that our 3-part seminar series have provided the audience with some basic yet powerful knowledge needed to starting a business regarding taxes, national insurance and pension. To the attendees, we thank you for coming and hope that you will spread the word about our service.

All the feedback received from the audience was extremely positive, with comments such as:
“Very informative and comprehensive”
• “Excellent speaker; Funny and highly informative”
• “Really useful and helpful for me to understand what I should know and how to gain the knowledge if I run a business. Most information is practical…”

The Small Business Clinic aims to help students and staff of the University of Southampton to take the next step in advancing their business. We welcome you to book an appointment for initial business advice at one of our FREE monthly business clinics. Our clients: where are they now?

Posted on

Over the past 2 years since its inception, the Small Business Clinic has served over 50 entrepreneurs. We got in touch with all our past clients last week to check up on them; 14 have kindly responded.

Our consultant’s advice has helped our clients in gaining more customers, resolving tax and legal issues, and improving their product/service. More than 50% of our clients are still actively working on their business, while clients who are not active attribute this to time commitments with work/studies/ personal matters. Some interesting comments from our clients were*:

  • “My business is now going to a new level… I am running more sessions with clients… this is working very well for me”
  • “I used the suggested terms in an agreement which I have sent to the counter-party…The consultant was very helpful in clarifying the terms”
  • “The advice was very clear… in deciding what choices I have to make”

*comments were edited to protect anonymity.
