Small Business Clinic- informative and engaging seminars

Posted on Updated on

Our first and second seminars of Small Business Clinic on 21/10/2015 have attracted a large number of staff and students at the University of Southampton. Total of 200 tickets were sold out two weeks in advance. Our brilliant Consultant and Entrepreneur Renold Tang delivered two seminars on “Running Your Own Business (Part 1)” and “Starting Your Own Business: The Mechanics (Part 2)” to our audience drawing from his intensive knowledge as a Fellow Chartered Accountant and extensive experience as an businessman, Renold’s lecture covered topics ranging from ‘different types of business vehicles’ and ‘important clauses to include in a shareholders agreement’ to the sacrifice and self-discipline required to start a business.

The intention of the two seminars was to provide basic general knowledge to audience who has little knowledge as to what considerations should be given when ‘starting-up’ a business and the different type of business vehicles that may be used for their business venture. We are pleased that over 98% of our audience are happy with our presentation and we would like to apologise to those who felt that our topics were too simple and were not sufficiently discussed during the presentation.

Overall, the seminars were given a high rate of 81% for the first seminar and 85% for the second seminar by the attendees, in regard with “Relevant to audience’s need”, “Quality of Presenter”, “Quality of Venue” and “Would like to attend further seminars”

An overwhelming majority of feedback from the audience were extremely positive, with comments such as:

  • “Very informative and engaging”
  • “Good balance between technical & practical”
  • “The explanation of the different business vehicles was very helpful”
  • “Good introduction into how to set into business”

We also appreciate for some other feedback to improve our future seminars where appropriate

  • “More question time” & “should have longer session”
  • “Some handout and power point might be help”& “More case study”
  • “Improve pronunciation”

Or some specific comments may be consulted at our one-to-one consulting section (clinics)

  • “Would like to learn more on employment of overseas people”
  • “How to do a market research for a small business”
